Line - Element of Art
A line is the basic element of art, which is used to draw and figure or art, and create any form of art such as a drawing, pencil art etc. Lines can be of different thicknesses, colours and shapes.
Shape - Element of Art
The shape is what you see around you all the time, be it a cup of tea, the TV you watch etc. Any enclosed structure be it two-dimensional or three-dimensional is known as a shape. Shapes are created with the help of line elements.
Point - Element of Art
A Point is a dot in an element of art. A collection of points can create any shape. To create a line element of art, point elements are used.
Curve - Elements of Art
Curves are lines that are bent and change their direction. curves are used to create creative shapes such as a stream of water, trees, calligraphy etc. Curves are made by the use of line elements.
Form - Elements of Art
Forms element is used to give dimensions to any shape. With the help of Forms, you can convert a two-dimensional shape into a three-dimensional shape. Forms Element give weight and depth to any shape.
Colours - Element of Art
The world won't be a beautiful place without colours in it. The blue water that we sometimes drink and sometimes bath with. The green trees that give us oxygen, the multi-coloured dress that makes us look handsome and beautiful. All consist of the Element Color.
Colours can be of different types, pencil colour, watercolour, oil colour etc, all these colours are used along with the other elements of art such as shapes and forms.
Texture - Element of Art
Do you like how your dress with the design looks like? Yes right? That design on the dress is called texture. Textures are repetitive designs in any shape or form.
Textures can be smooth or rough, Smooth textures are just like prints such as wall tiles. and textures that you can feel with your hands are rough textures such as embroidery.
Space - Elements of Art
Space is the area in which the design is made. Space is defined by negative space and positive space. Positive space is that area in any design that has something made in it, where the actual elements exist. Negative Space is the area that is left out and nothing is made in it. Sometimes Negative space is good for the design.
All these Elements of art are defined and used according to the Principle of Design which we have elaborated in our next article, What are the Principles of Design?
